Checca
Garlic is one of nature's best natural antibiotics.
It also lowers blood pressure, cholesterol and the risk
of heart disease. Garlic has both anti-viral and anti-bacterial
properties. Garlic stimulates the immune system to fight
cancer. Below is a simple recipe that uses a lot of garlic.
By
the way, the tomatoes contain a substance called lycopene,
which is helpful in preventing prostate cancer. Olive oil
promotes higher levels of HDL, the "good" cholesterol and
basil is used to stimulate appetite and digestion.
In
any proportions that taste good to you, combine:
- minced
garlic
- chopped
ripe tomatoes
- minced
fresh basil
- olive
oil
- a
little salt
The traditional Italian way to serve checca is on grilled
toast, called Brushetta because it is brushed with olive
oil.
Whether you grill the bread or just spread liberally on
toasted sourdough bread, this tasty appetizer is a great
start to any Italian meal. Mange!
